If you’re a residential or commercial property owner, someday you’ll likely have the unfortunate task of dealing with a water damage situation. Whether it’s a natural disaster, a pipe break or plumbing issue – dealing with water damage is a headache! When water damage isn’t resolved quickly, it WILL result in irreversible, lingering damage to your home or business.
As a professional water mitigation company, our teams use a variety of special tools and equipment to extract water and residual moisture from impacted areas. Here is a breakdown of some of the primary tools of the trade:
Dehumidifier
Dehumidifiers are vital to the water mitigation process. After a flood, the residual humidity increases moisture problems and the potential for mold growth. Dehumidifiers extract moisture from the impacted area to drastically reduce the risk of mold and mildew. For large areas, it’s best to utilize high-capacity dehumidifiers.
Air Movers
Air movers (also known as air blowers) do exactly what their name describes. Air movers contain extremely high-powered fans that drive air currents into water-impacted areas to promote drying. The air is then circulated in the flooded zone to prevent the growth of mold. Air movers work particularly well on carpeting and carpet pads (under the carpeting) due to their portability.
Negative Air Machines
Negative air machines are used to extract tainted air from controlled areas. The filtered air is then exhausted outside of the area while creating negative air pressure. This creates a vacuum effect inside the controlled area. Negative air machines are best used for properties impacted with gray or black water, where microorganisms need to be removed from the air.
